This is a repair service for all Mk1 Trafic headlights from 1980 - 2001. Over time the chrome reflectors inside the headlights fade and start to lose their shiny chrome finish, often going brown and rusty. When this starts to affect the beam pattern and light intensity then they will fail the MOT. We can replace the chrome reflectors for brand new ones.

The price listed is for the repair of 1 headlight (either left or right), if you require both headlights then simply select a quantity of 2 when buying. Included for the price is a complete repair service. We will send you the necessary packaging to ensure that your headlight(s) arrive safely, and when you're ready to send we will arrange the collection by courier from your door. (depot drop off services, and no-printer options are also available if required).

Please allow 2-3 days from when we receive your headlight(s) to complete the repair work. Once completed, we will dispatch the headlight(s) on the same or next working day.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ: We are happy to offer this service to buyers overseas but you will need to send us your headlight yourself, and we will then send it back to you once the work has been completed. Please contact us first so we can discuss with you.

IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO CONTACT US FIRST TO DISCUSS YOUR REQUIRMENTS, AND FOR US TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE REPAIRABLE (MOST CAN BE)

IF YOUR GLASS LENS IS CRACKED THEN PLEASE READ:

WE CAN ALSO REPAIR A CRACKED OR BROKEN GLASS LENS USING MODERN EPOXY ADHESIVES, BUT WE CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE THAT YOUR MOT TESTER WILL PASS THE CRACKED LENS. IN MY EXPERIENCE THE VAST MAJORITY OF MOT TESTERS WILL STILL PASS IT, AS LONG AS THE TEST MACHINE IS HAPPY AND THE BEAM PATTERN IS NOT AFFECTED. IF YOU HAVE ALL THE PIECES OF GLASS THEN THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT THE REPAIR WILL BE SUCCESSFUL, WE HAVE DONE AROUND A DOZEN LENS REPAIRES NOW AND ONLY HAD ONE PAIR FAIL WHICH WAS BECAUSE THERE WERE PIECES OF GLASS MISSING SO WE DIDN'T HAVE THE FULL LENS TO WORK WITH. IF YOUR LENS IS BROKEN AND IN SEVERAL PIECES THEN WE CAN REPAIR IT, IF HOWEVER IT'S IN A MILLION PIECES THEN OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT REPAIREABLE.

A standard lens repair will cost an extra £20, please contact us first if you require this process.

IF YOU HAVE DAMAGED CASINGS/HOUSINGS OR ADJUSTER SCREW FAULTS THEN PLEASE READ:

It is quite common to find other faults with these lights as even the newest are now over 15 years old. (Renault discontinued them in 2006), the most common faults are with the 4 captive studs which secure the headlight to the van, these often sheer off or spin due to the nuts seizing on. To give yours the best chance of coming undone cleanly, we recommend spraying a penetrant such as WD-40 or similar on several days prior, as this gives it time to work in and helps when coming to undo the nuts. If you still find they spin out when trying to undo them then the best way to remove them is by cutting straight down the end of the stud with a grinder until the nut is separated into 2 pieces. If access is limited the use of a thin cutting wheel in a rotary tool such as a Dremel will do the job nicely.

The hardest thing to repair is damage to the casing; any damaged studs can be swapped out very easily. This method of cutting the studs ensures the casings do not come to harm.

Standard stud replacements can be done at no extra charge. Damage to the casing can be fixed but will incur an extra fee depending on the time taken to do the repair. We are happy to give free quotes for the repair of casings, please contact us first to discuss this. If we receive your lights with damaged casings then we will always contact you before doing any repair work to discuss the best way forward, and give a quote for additional repair work needed.

Other faults we see occasionally are things like adjuster screws which can sometimes lose grip inside and spin out on the casing. This is usually an easy fix and can often be done at no extra cost, but it's best to let us know first so we can assess the issue fully.
